A.S. Farr Electrical Contractor

Home renovations and renovation-style upgrades in Hobart form the backbone of this contractor's work, with several customers describing how the same team has returned across multiple property projects over many years. Punctuality and reliability stand out in accounts of tradespeople arriving when promised and completing agreed tasks without fuss. Tidiness is another recurring observation, particularly after brickwork was cut and walls penetrated to relocate a switchboard, with site left clean. Clear pricing that matches the scope discussed is mentioned often, alongside practical advice on achieving difficult electrical layouts.

Communication features strongly, from quick responses to photographs of a faulty light fitting to detailed explanations of what a job involves. Named team members Olivia and Frazer are singled out for resolving a broken light fitting promptly, while Chris is remembered for finishing a series of small household jobs expertly. The firm covers general installations, switchboard relocation and renovation wiring, and the courtesy shown by workers on site is noted just as frequently as the technical result, with work described as neat and professional from first inspection through to final tidy-up, which is why repeat bookings recur across accounts of household electrical repairs and upgrades.

The worst. Cannot diagnose a fault correctly. Regularly does not show up.

Just had my electrical box moved from interior to exterior. These guys were on time, super thoughtful ,polite and did a fantastic job. Zero mess after having to cut bricks ,go through walls. The invoice was reasonable and we had zero issues with work permits etc. would highly recommend them for any electrical job. This is the second time we have used them and both experiences were really good.

Disappointing experience. Dropped off an item for repair. Despite several emails, it was 6 months before I got my item back only to find it hadn't been repaired. Turns out they'd not put my details with my item so no one knew who's it was but no one was replying to my emails either in that time. The quote was expensive just to rewire something very straightforward and basic so I was kind of happy to go elsewhere anyway. Just annoyed it took so many months and lots of my time for nothing. A piece of my item went missing somewhere along the way too, nothing major, just just adds more salt to the wound.... The staff member who assisted me at the 6 month mark was lovely and explained there had been a change of staff and was apologetic, so hopefully this is an unusual occurrence for the business.

Definitely not 24hr service. I'm in a rental and have a hard wired smoke + house alarm which was beeping every 30 seconds, tried to contact the emergency number given to me by my real estate for over 30mins with no answer, so looked up any other 24hr electrician and called this place. Was asked what time it was and my location then told "nah im not coming out". We had to leave our home and stay elsewhere....Very unhelpful, rude and would not recommend to ANYONE!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND RCBO ELECTRICAL, they helped me in a heartbeat!

Engaging with AS Farr at present. Doing a kitchen upgrade/Reno. Older style home. All workers courteous and considerate. Great work this far, neat and professional

Picture this, it's Friday afternoon, I change a flickering light globe, the new one is flickering as well, so I remove it and a chunk of broken plastic with a spring on it and some metal connections falls out of the bit where you screw the globe in, disaster. After a few phone calls with no answers I call A.S. Farr Electrical in North Hobart. I send them a few pics of my sad light fitting and WOW. Olivia and Frazer had my problem sorted within an hour. I received incredible service from this company, they really went the extra mile to help me. Thank you very much.

Had a wonderful experience with this company after many disappointing experiences elsewhere. Reception were fantastic and communicated well. The electrician who came to assess the situation told me everything I needed to know in layman’s terms and arranged to come back and complete the works discussed shortly afterwards. Any extra issues were identified and prioritised with the option of pursuing those immediately or in the future. I am super impressed with the speed and quality of the work as well as the friendly attitude of all the staff I have spoken with. Highly recommend.
