We have just had a new solar system installed. From beginning to end the level of service was 'top notch'. Would highly recommend Clayton Solar and Electrical to anyone as the process was super easy. The people were very professional, friendly and communication was excellent. I had a Sigenergy battery and Solar system installed by these guys, I was impressed with the care that the installers took to not damage my property and how receptive they were to my requests for where and how I wanted the system situated cables routed etc. As a homeowner it is refreshing to see trades that will work with you and take the tiny bit extra time and effort to do things once properly rather than rushing in/out leaving a trail of destruction. I recommend these guys if you want a quality job.

We started the solar/battery dance in January when I realised that we only had two years left on the 45c FiT that we had enjoyed for 14 years. The marketplace is a swamp of providers. Prices can almost double depending on who you buy from. Worse, to conceal excessive mark ups, operators typically under specify your system knowing that most people don’t fully understand the technology. For example, offering a 5kWh Inverter. Good luck boiling a kettle while your air conditioner is running! They don’t talk about how much of your battery should be held in reserve to use in a blackout blackouts. Blackout protection means you have less battery to work with. The industry all uses the same flash website to present how wonderful their solution is and to show you how much you will save. They don’t bother to show how much MORE you could save if you so had a bigger or better system. The “sales people” spend 10 minutes looking up your address, typing in some figures and plonking some panels on a picture of your roof. Then the quoting system takes over and makes lots of pretty pictures to impress you. REAL sales people know that if you have not asked 15 questions you have not qualified the customer. REAL sales people know that “I don’t want to spend too much” usually means “I want value for my money”. We know the that they are not REAL sales people, because they don’t even follow up their quotes. It is just a numbers game. Big impressive websites are no indication of a good provider. Using a celebrity name is also no indication. Big “trusted” companies cannot be trusted to give good value. After dancing through a few of these, I went looking for a small family owned South Australian company that has been around for long enough to stand a good chance of still operating in 10 or more years. Enter Clayton Solar and Electrical. Shane is not a commission sales person. Over the following week, he patiently worked up half a dozen different quotes as I explored different ideas including keeping existing panels vs full replacement. From his first quote, I had worked out that they would probably get the job. Their price was the most realistic I had received and totally fair. I happen to have access to wholesale equipment prices so I had a good benchmark to work from. Shane probably spent a couple of hours on the phone with me discussing my system before we locked it in. On the promised day, the team arrived to start the installation. Stavros, worked with me to agree on the fine details of the installation. Another job was postponed that day and so 8-10 electricians were all over the place and completed the two day job in one day! The true measure of a company is how they respond to issues or complaints. The next morning I spotted some minor damage. Within a few hours Stavros and a mate were onsite to correct the issue and make sure I was a happy customer. I am indeed a happy customer and the proud owner of a 15kW solar system with a 40KwH SigEnergy battery and 10kW Inverter that will mean zero electricity bills as a enjoy our retirement.

Such a great experience with Clayton Solar. Administration wise Shane made the process very easy and was extremely approachable about the whole process. On installation day Tim and his crew did a very professional job and the whole setup looks fantastic. No task was too hard, even with my home’s tricky switchboard from hell!
